We're Alive!

Just checking in to say that we're fine. Our house is on a big hill, and except for a minor leak in our garage we've escaped any ill effects from the storm here. Even though they're saying "Seattle" on the news, this is a big state, and most of the major problems have been on the Peninsula and toward the Oregon border, far to the west and south of us.

The story.

Goin' Back to Arizona

As if the ghost of Gramma in Greeley and the thundershowers in the passes south of Denver weren't bad enough, yesterday in Grants NM Kristen was assaulted by a washcloth full of black pubes and fecal stains. Also in Rimrock AZ we almost wiped out against a white coupe who thought it would be funny to pull directly in front of me doing 25 while I was doing 80, then fishtail around so I couldn't avoid him, but I played a lot of Rad Racer when I was younger and I handled it.

I haven't even been outside that much and I'm already hella pink.

I've done some thinking about how to spend the extra day and rearrange our route through California to involve less epic drives, and here's what I've come up with: next Friday we'll go from Bakersfield to Yosemite; Saturday we'll pass through 'Frisco and stay in Petaluma; Sunday we'll stop in Eureka; Monday we'll pass through Crescent City and stay in Salem Oregon; and Tuesday we'll arrive in Seattle, just in time for Kristen to start work on Wednesday.

Greetings from Denver

Hey everyone, just checking in to say we're still alive. We've had internet access in almost every place we've stayed but time to sit down and blog hasn't been materializing the way I'd hoped. We've been taking pictures and notes on paper and might save the official recounting until after the trip's over.

We passed into the mountain time zone today, and on the freeway I saw an Albertson's truck, so I guess we're officially in the West.

Half the World Away

I would like to leave this city
This old town don't smell too pretty and
I can feel the warning signs
Running around my mind

And when I
Leave this island
I'll book myself into a soul asylum
I can feel the warning signs
Running around my mind

So here I go
I'm still scratching around in the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind
Is very old

So what do you say?
You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway
You're half the world away
Half the world away
I've been lost I've been found but I don't feel down
